Meet Dr. Erica Zolnierczyk

Dr. Erica Zolnierczyk is a general dentist who graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2011.

After experiencing her own Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders stemming from a tongue-tie, Dr. Zolnierczyk sought out to educate herself about tongue-ties and how to best treat infants, children and adults. Dr. Zolnierczyk believes in a team approach to help all patients achieve the best results from a tongue-tie revision.

Tongue Tie

A tongue tie is when “an embryological remnant of tissue in the midline between the undersurface of the tongue and the floor of the mouth that restricts normal tongue movement.”

Lip Tie

A lip tie is an abnormally tight membrane attaching the upper lip to the upper gums (the labial frenum). Babies with a lip tie often have difficulty flanging their lip and can’t create a proper seal at the breast.
